Inauguration of the exhibition “Slow furniture for fast change” at the Madrid Desing Festival 2023
An initiative promoted by the American Hardwood Export Council (AHEC) with the sponsorship of Onesta and the collaboration of La Navarra.
“Slow furniture for fast change” is a project that brings together the work of 17 students selected from 9 design schools in Spain, mentored by Inma Bermúdez and Moritz Krefter (Studio Inma Bermúdez), Álvaro Catalá de Ocón (ACdO) and Jorge Penadés (Oficina Penadés).
The prototypes on display were handcrafted at La Navarra carpentry in Madrid, using a selection of sustainable American hardwoods: red oak, maple, cherry-tree and American tulipwood, all provided by Onesta.
Onesta is part of this type of project due to its commitment to bring the benefits of wood closer to society, since it is the great alternative for building and designing more sustainable environments.
David Venables, European director of AHEC, was in charge of inaugurating the exhibition with a few words of thanks, both to the students and mentors and to Onesta for their important contribution of the necessary material and to La Navarra for their collaboration. The mentors highlighted the diversity of the projects and the originality because the pandemic has had an effect on the students’ way of thinking.
Finally, Marta Sanchez, director of Onesta’s Projects Division commented that Onesta is part of this type of project because of its commitment to bring the benefits of wood to society, since it is the great alternative to build and design more sustainable environments. She added that Onesta is committed to both the quality and the traceability of the product, from its origin to its application in both construction, decorative and industrial projects.
